About Richard Cloward
Richard Cloward and Francis Fox Piven did pioneering work on poverty, welfare and economic issues. Their classic book is Regulating the Poor. A long-time professor of social work at Columbia and an architect of the welfare rights movement, Cloward died in 2001.
